Colin Hill Founder and CEO

Our founder and CEO, Colin Hill, didn’t initially set out to establish our organization. It all began in 2021 during the lockdown when he had two spare devices he wanted to give away to local children. A simple post on his Facebook page announcing his intention and encouraging others to do the same resulted in an overwhelming response. Hundreds of requests poured in, and people also offered their devices to be passed on. Recognizing the urgent need, Colin assembled a dedicated team, and since then, they have successfully assisted thousands of children, with their reach expanding rapidly to encompass Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, and parts of Kent.

Colin, in his thirties, brings a background in Marketing and departmental management, having previously worked for a warranty provider. His roots trace back to Yorkshire, but he attended a boarding school in Bolney, Sussex, designed for children with behavioral and mental difficulties. This upbringing has made him particularly passionate about providing help and support to others, as he personally experienced the impact of receiving such care during his time at the boarding school.

Let’s delve into some questions to gain a deeper understanding of Colin’s motivations and vision:

Question: What inspired you to start C4K?

Colin’s Answer: Starting C4K wasn’t my initial intention, but after witnessing the response to my Facebook post, I felt a strong sense of duty to contribute to the next generation’s preparedness for the future. We all have a responsibility to help, and when an opportunity presents itself, we should seize it.

Question: How has C4K transformed your life?

Colin’s Answer: C4K has completely reshaped my life. I willingly sacrificed my career, investing everything into this cause. While aware of the risks involved, the positive impact we create for thousands of children makes it all worthwhile.

Question: Do you have children yourself?

Colin’s Answer: Yes, I have a daughter living with her mother and a son, as well as three children from my partner. My children serve as constant reminders of why I do what I do.

Question: Have you always had a desire to help others?

Colin’s Answer: Yes and no. While I tried to help my younger brother overcome a severe heroin addiction, I ultimately realized that some battles must be fought by individuals themselves. Nevertheless, I’ve always been inclined to assist those in need, whether through financial aid or providing food. My initial desire for success and wealth shifted when I discovered the purpose and direction that C4K gave me. This cause allows me to leave behind a legacy of continued goodness even after I’m gone, which is more valuable than any riches.

Question: What is your vision for C4K?

Colin’s Answer: My vision for C4K is to transform it into a national organization specialized in recycling old technology and redistributing it to those who cannot afford it. This endeavor holds multiple benefits—it contributes positively to society, empowers children’s education, prepares them for the future, and also aids the environment by reducing carbon emissions. In an increasingly digital world, it is crucial to ensure no child is left without the necessary technological tools to thrive.

Question: Finally, what message would you like to convey to anyone reading this?

Colin’s Answer: I would urge everyone to reflect on what they would want for their own children, nieces, nephews, or any young person in their life—both in the present and in the future. By setting a positive example and taking actions for the next generation, we can foster a cultural shift towards a fairer and more equal society. Embrace doing what is right, even when it comes with personal sacrifices, as it’s a vital part of creating a better world for all.
